Did you know that colorectal cancer is the 2nd most common cancer diagnosed in New York, with a rapid increase in people ages 20-49 newly diagnosed? Did you also know that colon cancer is now the #1 killer of men and women under the age of 50?
I was diagnosed at the age of 45 with stage III colon cancer. There was no family history. I had symptoms that I could not ignore and the colonoscopy saved my life.
This is why I've joined the NYOH Community Cancer Foundation's Colorectal Check Challenge --- to spread the word about the importance of cancer screening and celebrate survivorship. Also, all funds that I raise will stay LOCAL, helping pay for basic needs such as groceries, transportation, and rent for people going through cancer treatment right now.
Looking for other ways to support? There's a closing celebration on Sunday, March 29th at Carson's Woodside Tavern in Malta, open to all. Come and join me and others involved in the Colorectal Check Challenge with some good food, music, and raffle prizes to close out the month. Tickets are on sale now for $30/presale.
