I'm a Champion for Colorectal Cancer Awareness!
Join me in the fight against Colorectal Cancer and helping support those surviving all cancers; please give today
Did you know that colorectal cancer is the 2nd most common cancer diagnosed in New York, with a rapid increase in people ages 20-49 newly diagnosed?
I unfortunately learned about this horrible disease the hard way…through my own Stage 3 diagnosis in October 2024 at the age of 46. Since then I’ve had to overcome surgery, chemotherapy, and a number of residual medical complications, but with God’s blessing I have survived!
Three key things that I believe has helped with the positive trajectory of my cancer journey are:
- access to routine screenings, allowing for early detection (I had ZERO signs and symptoms)
- access to quality medical care and treatment, and
- access to resources to help me and my family with the emotional and economic impact cancer had on us (e.g., financial support, palliative care, counseling, a faith community etc.)
I've joined the NYOH Community Cancer Foundation's Colorectal Check Challenge to help others have the same opportunities I had to access screenings, quality care and support. I want to spread the word about the importance of cancer screening and celebrate survivorship. Also, all funds that I raise will stay LOCAL, helping pay for basic needs such as groceries, transportation, and rent for people (with any kind of cancer) going through treatment right now.
Please consider donating to my fundraiser to help others with their cancer survivor journey.
Looking for other ways to support? There's a closing celebration on Sunday, March 29th at Carson's Woodside Tavern in Malta, open to all. Come and join me and others involved in the Colorectal Check Challenge with some good food, music, and raffle prizes to close out the month. Tickets are on sale now for $30/presale.
Thank you so much. Every little bit helps!
